Clallam County, WA
Clallam County, WA - Water
Project Background
The project will be implemented in two phases. At this time, CECorps is assisting with the first phase and is seeking volunteers to develop a comprehensive water system plan that includes forecasting water demand projections, assessing the existing condition of their infrastructure, and outlining the necessary infrastructure improvements to support forecasted demand. This phase may also include developing a map or database of the existing system assets. The second phase will focus on comprehensively planning the infrastructure improvements identified in the first phase. This may include conducting a blending study, inventorying potential financing sources, and/or developing a Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
Description of the Community:
The Tribe, spanning over 1,000 acres in Clallam County, is a sovereign, federally recognized Indigenous Nation with its own constitution and government. Various Tribal administrative departments oversee the everyday function of the reservation, including the utilities department which manages drinking water resources. The existing water system is supplied by two groundwater sources that serve a population of approximately 500. The utilities department maintains over 300,000 gallons of potable and emergency water storage, along with more than 20 miles of distribution and wastewater infrastructure. While the wastewater system was designed to meet the increasing demands of the growing Tribal population, the drinking water system has already reached capacity and requires expansion to meet increasing demands.
Project Scope of Work:
CECorps is looking for technical experts with experience working with Tribal Communities and groundwater water supply systems to develop a comprehensive water plan that includes future demand calculations and growth projections, necessary infrastructure expansion and upgrades and recommended improvements for meeting future demands.
